It is outrageous to see Indian TV media gunning for loop-holes in Pakistan s foreign policy now that the news of the arrest of Madhuri Gupta, the second high-commissioner in the Indian Embassy in Pakistan, have been given access by the Ministry of External Affairs. The arrest took place approximately a week back and Madhuri Gupta has been charged for spying on behalf of Pakistan,on the minutes of high-level meetings that have taken place in the Indian High Commission since 2007.
Admittedly, when questioned about the motive of her spying on India for Pakistan ,her confident answer is she did not get the promotions in the Indian Foreign Service she thought she deserved! Well that s hard for me to believe,if I believe in the media reports about her.She is 53 years old,and she is the Second Commissioner in the Indian Embassy in Pakistan!and here is one who is not happy with it..
It is here where the Indian media, particularly the news channels on television are going wrong, and so seems to be the case with the Indian MEA which seems to be influenced and guided by the aggression of the media. If they think that with news feeders headlined Pakistan s mole in Indian Embassy or mole interacted with Pak handlers they can push Pakistan into another diplomatic red-corner,they are not only wholesomely wrong but India shall lose whatever diplomatic advantage it has gained over Pakistan in the post-26/11 diplomatic manouevres.

In international politics, especially where diplomatic ties concerned(especially with an air of concealed aggression which actually is the case in the present Indo-Pak bonhomie),espionage is one thing that is completely non-existent in the field-manuals of diplomatic or inter-anti-espionage affairs.During the Cold War,there are reportedly 753 confirmed cases where espionage-rings have been busted by the CIA & the KGB,but all the cats and the mice died right there with no games finding their way into diplomatic policies to play spoilsport. And apparently Madhuri Gupta who is singing like a canary (term borrowed from Rahul Shivsankar, journalist,Times Now)in front of Indian intelligence officials,is apparently misleading her interrogators,so do espionage experts feel-she is towing a line commonly used by spy-suspects all over the world.)
Whatever be the case, she is an Indian national and citizen(there is a subtle difference between the two-so I found out recently while going the Constitution of The Indian Republic). She works in the office of an Indian High Commission, her salary is paid by the Government of India and she established unauthorized access to Indian intelligence files of information.

It is useless to train guns on Pakistan now.Nobody expects Pakistan to come forward to own up about spying when the suspect is an Indian and is a highly ranked diplomat working in an Indian embassy.India has got spies too,so has got every major political power in the United Nations. The spy-stuff might not be 007 material in the current international political scenario, but it is actually prevention of espionage and leakage of sensitive informations of a government s diplomatic policies that is the job of what is formally called Intelligence Wing of every nation. And the equation is clear. If governments officiate anti-espionage,espionage must be existing.Going after Pakistan on the current issue is likely to backfire and ruin whatever little advantage India might be enjoying over Pakistan, post 26/11,and it is improbable to find friends in the international community in this regard.
These episodes should be handled with caution and watchful discretion, least of all expose them to the public, national and and foreign, for the sake of sensationalism.
If a spy has been compromised,it is our fault and it would be wise to do the wise thing-keep our mouth shut.
