ONE NOTE PER HOUR

My first ever full bar scale changing harmonica befriended me on my 11th birthday. It was a very pleasant surprise when I saw her nicely dressed and packed in Ma"s hand - a simple token of a simple love that a simple pair of mother and son used to share in simpler times, once upon a time.

Years later it became quite disjointed and was definitely not singing out the correct notes. I retired her. Ma said she'll keep it somewhere 'safe' as a memento. Much later it was the 14th-15th day after she expired, I was just reorganising photographs In her wardrobe.

Here was a simple piece of paper gently folded in the "locker' of her wardrobe. I took it out and opened the folds with a rather stoic frown.
And here was this song, the words written by her. I knew her hand-writing well -- with those gently slow loops which always reminded me of a sea-gull, soaring high up there somewhere, celebrating its own freshly acquired Freedom

I wouldn't say much about what transpired between the Lock inside me and the Lock of her unlocked Locker, except for the fact that she loved this song very much - I am just paying a tribute to the departed soul, by simple reminiscence on a quiet Sunday afternoon.. Yes, I found it a bit "queer" going through the words which ended with a silent smile of mine and a nod of my head.

Why would somebody write a song, a popular song, a favourite song and keep it in a locker that had assumedly preserved her privacy ( which was unlocked all the time (apologies for my insensitivity here, especially keeping in mind the fact that she had taken her own life..

I guess I'd have found it queer all my life. I remember taking a long time folding it.
As I put my hand to place it back and my fingers touched cold metal.
As I lowered my head for visual inspection, I saw my first harmonica which she, actually had used a paperweight of sorts the ensured that folds of the piece were kept crisp.

Too many 'M's. Music Ma Metal Memory yes the name of the movie - Mon niye !

MADNESS? Ok you show me MADNESS, I 'll show ORDER. I am just drifting over "Roses, Ruses and Romance"on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Let's Move on.
