SHAME AND US

An hour ago, I posted in FB these lines   (http://anirbanspeak.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-woman-arth-meaning.html), as a song from ARTH - movie 1983, drifted into my mind and I drifted like the wintry night haze outside the window, along memory lane to a time, 3 decades back.    

I realized a Truth at 14 from a piece of soul-stirring art with immense contemporary relevance, just as all of us realize and internalize Beauty of Truth from Art.

I look around me now. And from this point my mind gets bitter and turn my words bitter fragments around an Ugly Truth.Generalized mindsets around Woman keep coming in ceaselessly, more so after the recent Delhi-Nirbhaya case. 

President's son, MP's minister, Sharad Yadav, Education minister of Pondicherry - they are elected politicians, they are the legislators/lawmakers of India - their oracles have been heard. Skirts, overcoats, painted & dented women protestors, Laxman-Rekhas : this is the crap they can offer us. 
And now "godman" Asaram who suggests a woman should "beg" and use diplomacy, chant some holier-than-shit-Mantras to be empowered with 'Suraksha Mantras'!  

Well this self styled Asaram has 5 Crore followers. How does this moron have a following of 5 crores? Who are these five crores?
It is us. How far have we introspected while bashing politicians?

I don't see who's going to provide us with what we need. We need a million things. We are seeing the reality. We wait? Or do it ourselves? The less said about the influence of organized religion on the Indian psyche the better.

We have to learn to feel ASHAMED of ourselves in the first place.


Do we have the clarity of honesty?
