How's things been since? Let's be a bit pragmatic for a while. Where does the Lady Victor stand now that a year has passed since then? Is it too early to ask this question?nay, nothing's too early for us, we are the mob, we don't go anywhere, we are the governed ones, we are impatient, we are imperfect - and of course we deny imperfection.
Because we are the mob. We press buttons too. We cast votes too.
Mamata Banerjee has already become a tragedo comic one act play that will keep on happening again & again.
Couldn't such a fearless lady write her own play that would draw packed houses? What went wrong? where? why?
I can see just TWO glaring disharmony in her reality, which is incidentally mine too. Social observers shall dissect it and pass on the knowledge.
1) she's such a pathetic administrator, inspite of being a firebrand leader. To lead a mob into a palace of age old tyranny & destroy the royalty is a Good Thing in history. But sitting now in place of the royalty that's no more, and to provide food, clothing & shelter to the mob is a different ball game. There is no place for anger here, the same mob still needs food as it did in the days of tyranny.
2)Everybody is not a born administrator. But she, not being born as one, cannot be sympathized with & forgiven for her inability to lead good governance, not a rebellion, but of peaceful times that follow. Because during rebellions, you have to learn how to manage post rebellion days, for the sake of those whom you lead (or you give the responsibility to a befitting one). That process is called Having a Vision. Simple. Her vision didn't go beyond overthrowing tyranny. This makes her Guilty. She is too Greedy to hand over the scepter to good governors.
Greed is humane albeit being baneful for humanity. We all are greedy. I am very greedy myself.
But Mamata Banerjee is Guilty for being greedy. She is Guilty of not having the vision to help her People. That subconscious guilt comes out as a possible 'discomfort' that pokes her all the time, and comes out as morbid paranoia for all of us to see.
You cannot look upon the state as an extended version of your constituency. She is incapable of developing this perspective. I doubt whether she has the will too. Hence she is and shall continue to be a Failure as far as leading her state is concerned, not a rebellion.
She won battles, but she has lost the war already. The war is with her own self.
We continue to scream and mock and smirk and write words like these. Yet my state, our state keeps on sinking. Ocean or a swimming pool, it still doesn't know how to swim. I've been seeing that since 1977. I was an eight year old boy then.
Nothing has changed for me. Nothing.

Whatever I did, I did it my way.
Agree, i just wonder if people with expertise and access to the media like some of you (or Ratnaboli) could have offered some counselling to both sides .... one who are utterly corrupt and simply having fun ...waiting to see her demise ..... others who hoped better ...naively .... if I may say ... underestimating the power of the opposition who can press the appropriate button ... once they figure out...what works well to destroy her sanity. No doubt ... she is honest and sincere in her wish to help the people ... we can't say that for many "suited-booted bhadrolok" any more...So what's the responsibility of those who respects her honesty and sincerity and appreciates the scarcity of these two virtues in WB or Indian politicians, in general? Should they simply join the crowd and lazily wait till the wolves in sheep's cloths take over the life of WB again? Or, should they get together to offer something constructive..for example avoid picking on her on the same issue all the time....and give her some credit for something for a change in a way to gain her confidence and then offer some constructive criticism. However, that constitutes work out of love for country and respect for an honest person by offering a hand, rather than lazy egoistic irresponsible chuckles to make it easy for the real wolves to get inside our kitchens.

Dear Debasis, I am realy thankful that you have bothered toread the piece and has commented brilliantly. I share the same feeling with you, I am myself guilty of apathy.Yet I would love to write back to you to elaborate on my personal opinions which mike reveal to you how sarcastic I have been, calling myself a part of the "MOB". We can laugh together too on my sarcasm/ Satire.
